Read what some of my clients had to say about their experience
Olivia was recommended by a friend who had used her services previously.
I reached out to book our appointment and immediately felt put at ease with what was quite an emotional and worrying process. Olivia was present even before our meeting and said to reach out if we had any queries with the pre-assessment documentation.
Both Poppy and I were quite anxious before the appointment, but Olivia quickly made us feel very relaxed and was warm, kind and engaging. Poppy took to Olivia instantly and followed her into the assessment area without hesitation. Olivia gave Poppy breaks when needed and even allowed a longer break for Poppy to eat an early lunch as she shared, she was hungry. At the end of the assessment Poppy looked happy, calm and relaxed and as though she had thoroughly enjoyed her time with Olivia.
After the assessment Olivia talked through the initial findings and was able to give us a diagnosis there and then. This was a lot to take in, but Olivia talked us through it slowly and gave us the opportunity to clarify things when needed. Olivia understood the gravity of what this diagnosis meant to us and allowed us time to grow into it.
We received the report within a few days, and it was so clear as to the diagnosis and also what measures could be put in place to support Poppy going forward. I was particularly thankful for the online references and resources provided in the report. Once passed to school it was put into action and school stated at the implementation meeting it was the best dyslexia report they had ever seen.
Since the implementation of the report Poppy has gone from not meeting expectations in reading, spelling and writing to meeting at a good standard.
Lucy, mother to Poppy aged 8 years 6 months (July 2023)
We very much appreciate the clarity and precision of your findings and the clearly stated recommendations. We will also pursue the opportunity with the optometrist and are grateful for your referral, which we will cite. We will be presenting your report to school (with a flourish!)
Susan, mother to Madison aged 12 years 7 months (March 2024)
I found the assessment process and experience of working with Olivia really positive, and it has really aided my understanding of my child and his areas of strength as well as areas where he struggles. The assessment was thorough, both in terms of the clarity of background information to provide in advance, the assessment on the day, opportunity to immediately discuss the assessment scores and finally the very comprehensive report.
Olivia was approachable and engaging, and despite the unfamiliar environment and experience was able to reassure my child and encourage him to open up and participate fully. Once Olivia had completed the assessment, she talked through her initial observations with both of us, with the opportunity for us to discuss and ask questions.
The report itself was produced quickly in just a few weeks (which was faster than I'd originally expected) and Olivia was really keen that we had it quickly so we could discuss it with our child's school. The report was drafted and shared, but Olivia did give us the opportunity to review and ask for any amendments / clarifications if we had any (we didn't as it was so thorough) before it was finalised.
We've already been able to discuss the report with school in terms of adjustments that will help my child, and the report had also recommended using assistive technology which we are starting to try.
We found the whole experience of working with Olivia easy, professional, detailed and yet also warm and empathetic.
Caroline, mother of Jack aged 10 y 6 months (July 2024)
I would thoroughly recommend Olivia if you require a comprehensive dyslexia assessment. My son was treated with kindness and professionalism during his recent assessment. He was put at ease from the moment he entered the room, saying he actually enjoyed the assessment! My concerns were listened to and acknowledged throughout the process.
The final report was sent to me with clear recommendations for school and for us at home to implement.
The support went further, with referrals to a sight assessment at the university of Bradford completed on my behalf, which is something I would have not known about without the expertise and knowledge of Olivia Harrison. Thank you!
Becky, mother of Luke aged 8 years (August 2024)
The experience from start to finish was very smooth. When we arrived at the assessment, we were both greeted well and made to feel comfortable.
Harry is an anxious child and worries about new places, but he enjoyed the assessment as Olivia made him feel so comfortable and at ease, Harry has said things like he would love his teachers to be like Olivia.
The report was completed and sent back to be within four weeks, and I was very happy with this time frame especially with how detailed the report was.
Megan, mother to Harry age 9 years 6 months (June 2024)
